I found a local source but I had to buy much more than I needed for the bridge (they wouldn't cut any of the chunks they had to smaller sizes). So I ended up with the smallest rough piece I could get - 0.55 board feet.

I used a block of wood with a thin layer of rubber glued to the top and then attached sandpaper. I ground the blades flat with 80 grit sandpaper, removing the secondary bevel. WebMay 19, 2013 · Re: Carving Indian Rosewood? I did a piece of East Indian Rosewood 6 or 8 months ago. Yes, it is very hard, but carves ok as long as you maintain a good edge and take your time. The wood is rather resinous so it will discolor your carving glove and it may have small pockets of resin that can affect the final look. And yes, very nice looking wood.
